Colombia Provide Update On James Rodriguez Injury Ahead Of England Clash

Colombia have provided an update on the fitness of James Rodriguez ahead of their last 16 clash against England.

James was substituted after 30minutes in the 1-0 win over Senegal on Thursday with muscle pain in his left calf.

He missed training on Friday and Saturday and is a huge doubt for Tuesday's match against England (7pm).

But the Colombia Football Federation has provided an update on his injury.

“An MRI was done on James Rodriguez, which showed the result of minor swelling with no muscle tear on his right soleus,” a statement read.

That doesnt mean James would be fit to face England on Tuesday.

Colombia Coach after the match against Senegal admitted he was worried over the Injury to the Bayern star James.

"The situation is tough for the team -- it is not an easy situation," Pekerman said after the game.

"He trained normally up until yesterday and even yesterday he stayed after practice, as he always does, taking extra shots, free kicks, penalties.

"He has been in optimum conditions for all the recent training sessions and at the last, we had no indication he was in any pain.

“Now, sincerely, I honestly don't know how he is."
