Goalkeeper Jan Oblak Rejects Chelsea After £89m Transfer Offer (Details)

Atletico Madrid Goalkeeper Jan Oblak has rejected the offer from Chelsea to join the Premier League.

Chelsea are keen to find a replacement for Real Madrid-Bound Thibaut Courtois, who missed training over the past few days.

Courtois is reportedly said to be trying to force through a move to Real Madrid before Thursday's transfer deadline.

The Blues are ready to sell Courtois to Real Madrid but only if a replacement for the Belgian is signed.

Jan Oblak is top of Chelsea's shortlist to replace Courtois and the club were willing to pay £89m for the shot stopper.

But According to Spanish Newspaper El Correro, Oblak has rejected Chelsea after initial contact was made.

As a result, Chelsea have now turned to Atletico Bilbao Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The 23-year-old rejected a move to Real Madrid in January and is Chelsea's next target with a release clause of £71m.

Bilbao are unwilling to negotiate with Chelsea over a fee for kepa and have told the Blues that his release clause must be met.

Reports in Spain have claimed Chelsea are willing to pay Kepa's £71m release clause on Wednesday and are hoping the Goalkeeper can be signed in time to begin training on Thursday.

Kepa was part of the Spain 23-man Squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but didn't feature throughout the tournament.
