2018 FIFA Best Player: Luis Suarez Reacts To Lionel Messi Omission

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has reacted after teammate Lionel Messi was omitted from FIFA's final three shortlist.

The Three finalists for the 2018 FIFA Best Men's Player are Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah.

Ronaldo and Modric both won the Champions League with Real Madrid last season, while Modric also helped Croatia reach the 2018 World Cup final.

However, Salah scored 44 goals for Liverpool last season and helped the Reds reach the Champions League final.

And Suarez has now reacted saying the Argentine [Messi] is more focused on helping Barcelona to win more trophies this season.

“I don’t think that any award[Messi] does or doesn’t win takes anything away from what he has won and what he keeps on achieving,” Suarez told ESPN.

“It’s just like when I was scoring goals and deserved [to win] things, I was above all that.

“You prove yourself by working hard, with what you do in every game.

“The prizes that are worth more are the ones you win on the pitch.

“An example of that is being top scorer: no one can take that away from you because you won it with the goals you scored, proving yourself on the pitch, not because of a vote by players and journalists.”

The Winner of the award will be announced on 24th September 2018.
