Manchester City Begin Search For Sergio Aguero's Replacement

Manchester City have started their search for Sergio Aguero's replacement, with the 30-year-old expected to leave the club soon, according to reports.

The Argentine joined City in 2011 in a £38m deal from Atletico Madrid and is currently the Club's top goalscorer with 204 goals.

Aguero now has just two years left on his current contract with the club which ends in 2020.

According to Metro UK, Coach Pep Guardiola wants Aguero's successor at the club by next summer.

City were the keen to sign Kylian Mbappe in 2017 but the Frenchman chose to join Paris Saint-Germain over a move to the Ethiad.

The club believe Gabriel Jesus will develop as a 'second striker' and will instead target a forward with greater presence in central areas.

Guardiola's admiration of Tottenham's Harry Kane is nothing new but the England captain could cost around £200m and negotiations with Spurs would be very difficult.

Meanwhile, Aguero will be 32 when his contract expires and will be allowed to leave the club for free, reports suggest he would return to boyhood club Independiente.

The forward has stated on a number of occasions he plans to return to his homeland and confirmed he wants to play for Independiente again in March.

'My contract with Manchester City will expire in 2020, then i will return to my home at Independiente,' said Aguero.
