Wow! UEFA Review Away-goal Rule In UCL Ahead Of Big Change

UEFA has planned a big change to the Away-goal rule for the European competitions.

Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and a number of coaches brought up the matter to the European Football Governing Body.

Deputy General Secretary Of UEFA, Giorgio Marchetti has confirmed it would be a open discussion on the future of the rule used to split teams who are level on aggregate in the knockout stages of the Champions League and Europa League.

"The coaches think that scoringgoals away is not as difficult asit was in the past," Marchetti told reporters.

"They think the rule should be reviewed and that's what we will do.

"They consider the situation in football has changed and the weight of the away goals is not the same as many years ago when the rule was introduced."

Marchetti spoke after the annual Elite club Coaches forum in Nyon, which is used to exchange ideas and improve the continent's top competitions.

Along with the away-goals rule, the use of VAR and the technical and tactical aspects of last season's tournaments, attendees also called for a unified end to the transfer window.

Manchester United Coach Jose Mourinho, PSG's Thomas Tuchel and Real Madrid Boss Julen Lopetegui were among the coaches to attend.

Other Coaches present were: Carlo Ancelotti of Napoli, Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone, Rafa Benitez of Newcastle United, Sergio Conceicao of Porto, Paulo Fonseca of Shakhtar Donetsk, Marseille's Rudi Garcia and Senol Gunes of Besiktas.
