Bayern Munich Reveal Price-tag For Jerome Boateng Amid Man Utd Links (Details)

Manchester United will have to pay around £50m if they plan to sign Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich.

According to Mancherster Evening News, Boateng is one of the eight central defenders that Jose Mourinho has identified to improve United's defence.

The Portuguese manager has made the defence a key place to improve this summer with Toby Alderweired another well known option.

United are keen to recruit an experienced and physical defender and Boateng fits the bill, which would represent a cheaper alternative to Tottenham ace Toby Alderweired, who is priced at £70m.

Bayern Munich have let Boateng know he is free to leave this summer provided they receive a reasonable fee.

MEN report the former Manchester City defender could even be available for £43m but his issues with injury is a major concern.

Boateng made just 31 appearances last season, 19 in the league and in other competitions.

The 29-year-old is also been scouted by Juventus, but he missed latter parts of the previous two campaigns through different fitness issues.

But the defenders pedigree and Quality could tempt the Old Trafford club to sign him regardless.

Mourinho has signed at least one defender in each of his last two summer windows with Eric Bailey and Victor Lindelof from Villareal and Benfica respectively.

United has the second best defensive record in the Premier League last season but struggled for consistency at the back with seven different players filling in at the back - Chris Smalling with most appearances on 28.

The Red Devils have already signed Fred and Diogo Dalot this summer as they look to battle Manchester City for the Premier League next season.

Any move for Boateng would have to wait until after the World Cup.

Getmany face Sweden on Saturday (7pm) after their shock 1-0 loss to Mexico in the opening match at the 2018 World Cup.
