Manuel Neuer Slams Germany Team-mates After Shock 2018 World Cup Exit

Germany Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has slammed his teammates after the 2014 Champions were knocked out of the World Cup.

Germany lost two of their three group stage matches as they failed to progress past the group stage for the first time.

South Korea defeated the holders 2-0 and sealed their exit from the tournament far too early.

Victory over South Korea would have seen Germany progress but two late goals was enough to get them eliminated.

And Neuer has admitted the 2014 Winners were just not good enough in Russia.

"I think that all of us weren't up for it and did not have the absolute will to show that we wanted to tear something down here at the World Cup,” Neuer said.

”Even if it had worked out today it would have been over for us in the knock-out phase in the next game or the game after.

"We did not deserve it, it has to be said very clearly... We are responsible. It's very bitter and also just pathetic."

Suprisingly, this is the fourth time in five World Cups the previous winners have failed to make it out of the group stage.

France won the tournament in 1998, but were knocked out early in 2002.

Italy also won the tournament in 2006 but failed to get past the group stages in 2010.

And after Spain won the World Cup in South Africa eight years ago, they failed to get past the group stage in 2014.
