Nigeria Vs Argentina: Ahmed Musa Is Not Messi - Coach, Gernot Rohr

Head Coach Of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr is backing Ahmed Musa to make a statement when they Argentina later today at the 2018 World Cup.

However, Rohr was quick to also downplay comparisons between the Leicester forward and Argentina captain, Messi ahead of the clash.

On Friday, Musa scored twice as Nigeria defeated Iceland 2-0.

“Musa is not Lionel Messi yet,” the German told kicker.

“Somebody said ‘Lionel Musa’ yesterday, but he’s not there yet. I hope he can do it one day.”

Also, Gernot Rohr has revealed he doesn't pity Lionel Messi and his teammates.

A win or draw for Nigeria could see them qualify for the Round of 16 and send Leo Messi and Co home.

“We love this great player, Messi, everybody loves him.

“The question is not if it is the last World Cup for him or not, the question is for us to be qualified.

“We are not here to watch him play. We are here to make a result, we are professionals.

“We are here to defend the colours of Nigeria and we know in football there is no mercy, no pity, everybody wants to win and we cannot make any gifts even if we like very much this player,” Rohr told the media on Monday.

The 25-year-old has also scored twice against Argentina at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
