Portugal Star Cristiano Ronaldo Speaks Out Amid Retirement Claims After World Cup Exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken out amid reports he will retire from international football.

Ronaldo couldn't do anything as Uruguay defeated Portugal 2-1 and knocked them out of the World Cup.

Russia 2018 is Ronaldo's third World Cup in his football career and its unlikely he will feature in Qatar by 2022.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos hopes Ronaldo would be available for the start of the Nations League in September.

But Ronaldo will wait to make a decision regarding his international future.

“The future? It’s not the time to talk about the future in terms of players, coach... This team will continue to be one of the best in the world, with quality players and a young group who are close together,” Ronaldo said.

“We leave here with our heads held high. As Portugal captain, I know how we’ve worked and we must be proud of the team.

“We must go back with our heads high and with the confidence that this team will keep winning things.

“I’m confident and happy because this team will always fight with the maximum strength.”

Should Ronaldo call it time on his International career? He does so after winning the Euro 2016 with his country.
