World Cup 2018: Argentina Coach, Jorge Sampaoli Speaks On Ronaldo And Messi Rivalry

Argentina Coach, Jorge Sampaoli has spoken about the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi after yesterday's 3-0 Loss To Croatia.

Sampaoli has said it is unfair to compare Lionel Messi to Cristiano Ronaldo right now.

Speaking after the match he also explained why his team failed to beat Croatia.

He also also stated that his squad's performance clouds Messi's brilliance.

While Messi has struggled to perform at the 2018 World Cup, Ronaldo on the other hand has scored 4 goals already for Portugal so far.

Sampaoli said, “I think Cristiano is a great player – you can look at all he has achieved as a player with his club and his country.

“Right now we shouldn’t compare these two players.

"I think that because of the reality of the Argentine squad, it sort of clouds Leo's brilliance," he said.

"Leo is limited because the team doesn't get ideally with him as it should.

"As coaches we need to realise these things and try to deal with them. I'm the one that needs to accept it."

Argentina face Nigeria in their final Group match while Croatia will take on Iceland who face Nigeria today (4pm).
