Argentina New Coach Speaks On Lionel Messi's International Future

Argentina new Coach Lionel Scaloni has spoken on superstar Lionel Messi's future with the national team.

Last week, Argentina named Scaloni as interim manager following the sack of Jeorge Sampaoli.

There has been speculations over Messi's Future in international football after Argentina failed to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Messi was captain Argentina as they were knocked out of the tournament by France 4-3 in the round of 16.

The 31-year-old Barcelona player is yet to discuss international football and has not spoken to the media since Argentina's elimination from the World Cup in Russia.

Scaloni, who has taken the managerial role has admitted he's unsure about Messi.

“We don’t have the squad list made, not even a small percentage of it,” Scaloni told reporters ahead of Argentina’s friendlies clash with Guatemala and Colombia next month.

“I don’t think this is the time to call Lionel [Messi].

“Once we have to name the squad, we will see what we do. I honestly know him [Messi] well and I’m not worried about having to talk to him.

“We want to treat him in a way that he truly knows that there is a respect there and that we are most certainly going to treat him as he deserves. That is the most important thing of all,” he said.
